Scripture: Luke 24:2-3 (NIV)
They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.”
Testify:
Like the women at the tomb, we may only have a message at first: “He is not here; He is risen.” They didn’t see Jesus immediately just an empty tomb and a word from heaven. But that word was enough to stir faith and bring hope. In our own lives, we often face “empty tomb” moments. Times of uncertainty, loss, or waiting. Or believing God is willing to help other people but not me. Even when we don’t see the full picture, God is still moving. God doesn’t expect perfection from us. He works in our lives through faith. God wants us to trust Him, believe in Him, have faith in Him, and have a hopeful, positive attitude.
Edify: What took place in these scriptures is truly powerful. The women saw with their own eyes what the disciples could not believe. The sight of the empty tomb was astonishing; Jesus was no longer there. What’s most striking is that the women encountered the resurrection not through seeing Jesus himself, but through the message of the angels. They were told, “He is not here, but is risen.” What they had was not a visible Christ, but a divine message.
Imagine the disciples, certain that Jesus was still dead in the tomb, while He had already risen to set His children free. The women carried this message of the resurrection back to the disciples, and understandably, the only initial response was unbelief. They were perplexed, confused by what didn’t fit their expectations. But God, in His mercy, quickly removed their doubts and brought them to faith. How often do we share this same mindset? We encounter trials, tribulations, and uncertainties, and our first reaction is often doubt; not because we believe in nothing, but because we believe in something else more strongly. Unbelief doesn’t mean the absence of belief; it means misplaced belief. This is where the message of the resurrection begins its work; it challenges our assumptions and confronts our certainties. And just like then, God still sends His word in due season. He reminds us; the tomb is still empty. Jesus is still risen. And that truth changes everything.
Apply: The resurrection is not just about a past event; it’s about how it continues to change our lives today. His word is still alive and well. The stone has already been rolled away. Trust the message sis. The message that “He is risen” brings hope, not just for the future but for the present. It reminds us that death does not have the final word. Whether we are facing physical, emotional, or spiritual struggles, the resurrection declares that God is greater than all those things. The power that raised Jesus from the dead is the same power that works in us, transforming our lives, our hearts, and our circumstances. Jesus is risen and that changes everything.
