PUNKS STEP UP
Scripture: Job 1:7 NLT
Then the Lord asked Satan, “Have you noticed my servant, Job? He is the finest man in all the earth. He is blameless-a man of complete integrity. He fears God and stays away from evil.”
Testify:
“Punks jump up to get beat down”. I won’t quote the rest of this old school song, but it is what matched the image in my head. I see Satan trying to slow me down as I’m running for Christ. I see him trying to trip me up, I see him pulling up on every path I take. But I also see my God standing there before me, reminding Satan whose daughter I am. I see God beating Satan down every time he tries to get a grip on me. I can hear God reminding me that Satan has limited power and I have authority. The more I ground myself with the word of God and use that as my weapon against Satan, it won’t matter if he pulls up trying to delay my progress. So, I need to boldly declare to Satan, punks jump up to get beat down!
Edify:
In this scripture we see God TELLING Satan to pull up on his servant Job. When I first learned the story of Job years ago, I had the perspective of him enduring great loss but remaining a devout servant of God. Job lost his wife, kids, home, and finances in one day: not over the course of time, but ONE DAY. And this loss was not because of poor decisions he had made; he was a righteous man of God whose life reflected his dedication. The losses Job experienced were because God allowed the devil to pull up on him. Not because Job did anything wrong, not because he was reaping what he sowed, but because God knew Job would praise him anyhow. God knew Job was so committed to his belief and faith that he would never curse him and would worship him through his pain. I now see this story as more than Job being a steadfast man of God. I see it as an honor to be chosen by God for such a battle.
Apply:
When the devil pulls up on you, how will you respond? Will it be with praise and worship and declaring Gods word over your life? Will you get lost in your head trying to overanalyze “why me”. Or will you take a moment to see God’s hand in the challenge your facing? Remember, Satan has limited power and as a king’s kid, we have authority!
