The Ultimate Warrior
Scripture: Deuteronomy 20:3-4 NLT
He shall say: “Hear, Israel: Today you are going into battle against your enemies. Do not be faint-hearted or afraid; do not panic or be terrified by them. For the Lord your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.”
Testify:
Often, we hear that God will fight our battles. I would often reply that I do not see Him in the fight! I often felt alone in my battles. Even when there was a word spoken into my life to prepare or warn me, I would feel left alone, and this would be the beginning of my downfall. My Assistant Pastor often says that our battles put our heads on a pivot—looking around but not focused, looking aimlessly. We focus on weaponry and how many soldiers are in the opposing army, but oh, how perception can change the game! Faith and listening are preparation and strategy for a win!
Edify:
Can you remember when we were younger, and we heard that a fight was going to happen at the ring of the bell? There would be people talking, encouraging the fighters, and some individuals motivating others by chanting. This often resulted in participants feeling more confident. Can you imagine the ultimate warrior chanting for you, in your corner? Remember that everything must bow to our Ultimate Warrior! No matter what you are faced with, no matter what weapon you see—He stated that there’s no need to allow fear and anxiety to cripple us, because He will be with us in battle! Not only is He going into the battle, but He is going before us, so He takes the initial hit. We walk into the battle with protection, so it’s already a fixed fight. So, let’s fight on! And the scripture declares that He will give us the victory!
Apply:
First, we must change how we see ourselves—we are more than conquerors. Prepare for battle; gather your artillery: prayer, fasting, the Word, and good, godly counsel. Know that you are not alone! Get your head in the game and remember where the fight is. We do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against spiritual wickedness in high places. Always remember that it is not by your might or your power, but by His Spirit that we always win!
