STAY READY FOR BATTLE

Scripture: I Peter 5:8 (NKJV)

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. 

Testify:

In the world we live in today, we are constantly hearing and reading about children being kidnapped, people being robbed and mugged and people losing their lives.  We are constantly reminding those we love to pay attention to their surroundings, so they won’t become victims.  This is what God is saying to his children when it comes to the devil.  God wants his children to be mindful and spiritually alert because the devil is watching our every move.  The devil is waiting for a child of God to let their guard down and once that guard is down the devil will pounce and attack.  The devil’s main goal is to kill, steal and destroy the children of God.

Edify:

As children of God, we must always stay ready for battle.  We must stay prayed up and in tune with the word of God.  We must never get so comfortable that we put our guards down.  The bible tells us in this scripture to be sober and vigilant.  To be sober and vigilant means we must have sound judgement and spiritual alertness while watching for the devil. The devil is always lurking close by and waiting for a child of God to display a sign of weakness.  Once he sees a weakness, he takes that opportunity to attack.  Let’s not fall victim to the devil’s devices.  Learn his tactics so when he comes seeking, you will be sober, vigilant, ready to pull up and ready for battle.

Apply:

Never get so comfortable in your faith walk with God that you let your guard down.  Remember the devil is lurking looking for someone to devour.  Be sober, vigilant and always prepared for battle.
