He’s About to Pull Up
Scripture: Exodus 14:13-14 (NIV)
Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
Testify:
Standing still in a moment or season can be one of the hardest things to do. When God says, “I will handle it,” our human nature often wants to step in and take control anyway. We convince ourselves that our way is quicker, easier, or somehow better. But in reality, our efforts can create unnecessary stress and even delay the very breakthrough God was preparing for us. Trusting His timing requires surrender, patience, and faith that He sees the bigger picture. Standing still is not weakness it’s choosing to rest in His strength instead of striving in our own.
Edify:
The Israelites began to fear what was chasing after them, forgetting that God already had a plan worked out. Instead of looking forward in faith, they kept looking back in fear. How often do we do the same magnifying our problems, trying to handle them on our own, and forgetting to consult the One who already holds the solution? Sometimes God allows us to go through situations until we finally realize that He is the only one who can bring us through. When God says, “Be still,” He is inviting us to release control. He reminds us that the battles we face are not ours to fight alone; He fights for His children. Just as He opened the Red Sea for Israel, He can make a way where there seems to be no way in your life.
Today, you may be standing at your own “Red Sea.” Fear may whisper that you’re trapped, but faith declares that God is with you. You don’t have to figure it all out you only need to stand still and trust that the same God who parted the waters then is the One who pulls up for you now.
Apply:
Where in your life are you tempted to “pull up” in your own strength instead of standing still and letting God fight for you?
