LACE UP YOUR BOOTS
Scripture: Ephesians 6:13 NLT
“Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm.
Testify:
I remember when I used to be scared of the enemy—I didn’t want any smoke and would run from him. He wasn’t running from me, because I was still unsure of the power that I held inside me. He didn’t want me to know that I was powerful, and that my power could actually defeat him. Oh, but when I did find out who I was, I wanted all the smoke. I was ready to pull up on him and his imps. Now, call me the initiator, because I start the fight every time I pray.
Edify:
All I can think about is the song: “Lace up your boots, put on your backpack. It’s time to ride.” The verses in Ephesians 6:13-18 remind me of this song—it gets you ready to pull up. The passage teaches us how to fight against the schemes of the enemy by standing firm in truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, and by the word of God. In these verses, it explains how to wear all of these attributes as spiritual armor.
Armor protects us from bodily harm, so if it’s spiritual armor, then it protects us from spiritual harm—a protection that regular armor cannot offer. It goes on to say in verse 19 to even pray in the spirit all the time and for other believers. When you wear something, it doesn’t go away; you carry it with you until you make the decision to take it off. No one can just take it off of you—the same as the armor of God.
As believers, we have to know how to pull up and how to fight. Don’t take off this armor for anything. It’s time to pull up!
Apply:
Ask God, “Do I have the right armor on?” Then, ask for divine guidance—not only to reveal the areas that need strengthening, but to transform and equip you, so you can withstand the enemy.
