Scripture: Jeremiah 1:9 AMP

“Then the Lord stretched out His hand and touched my mouth, and the Lord said to me, Behold (hear Me), I have put My words in your mouth.”

Testify:

I want to start off with a question. How many of us can testify no matter the circumstance we will remain obedient to Gods instructions? Jeremiah was one of the most successful people in the Bible in Gods eyes and the world deemed him a miserable failure. Jeremiah was called and set apart as one of Gods messengers. Every step was ordained and carefully watched over by the Lord. Jeremiah was just like many of us- he had a sense of unworthiness and lack of experience. For 40 years he served as Gods spokesman to Judah. He was a poor man, had no family or friends and went thru severe deprivation while delivering Gods prophecies. He was rejected, doubted, ridiculed, kidnapped, and was thrown into jail. Throughout his life he stood alone and continually stretched his faith. How far are you willing to be stretched in your walk with God to obtain the ultimate promise?

Edify:

During the time of Jeremiah’s work, it was a chaotic time politically, morally, and spiritually. Society was doomed and dominated the world. God’s words were offensive to many.  Jeremiah was fearful due to him feeling inadequate for the job he was assigned. He thought he was too young and inexperienced to be God’s spokesman to the world. The Lord had to give him a reminder of who he called him to be and his promise to remain with him. Jeremiah depended on gods love as he gained endurance with tears in his eyes. He was also tempted to give up but knew what God’s love felt like, he had to see beyond his feelings. Despite many attempts on his life, he still remained the Lords faithful servant. Faithfully serving God does not guarantee earthly security.  God doesn’t keep us from trouble, he walks with us thru difficulties, pain, and challenges. He helps us to see the purpose of victory in the struggle.   He stretches us until we mirror him.

Apply:

True success involves obedience and faithfulness. Jeremiah was obedient to his calling and courageously proclaimed the word of God. Repent and turn to God or you will be punished. I dare you to pray right now and ask God to stretch out his hands and touch you so you too can be a pillar in his plans to spread his word. Let us uproot, tear down, destroy and, overthrow everything that gets in the way of what was appointed to you. Then build and plant seed so that his word is fulfilled. Say it with me Stretch me oh lord!
