Scripture: Hebrews 12:11 NIV
“No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.”
Testify:
Have you ever felt tight? Maybe your clothes have been tight, or your stomach tight. When you feel this, it could be that you’re growing, and growing pains hurt. Stretching is usually the recommendation and sometimes stretching can hurt worse. Growing pains makes everything feels tight and painful. They can make you stop moving, because you don’t want to feel. Growing pains are expensive as well. They cause you to have to buy bigger clothes or shoes to accommodate your growth. Growing pains are inconvenient, they never come at the right time.
Edify:
In the book of Hebrews, Paul says that discipline or in this reference, growing pains, never feel good in the moment. But it produces a harvest afterwards. So, your growing pains may not be pleasant, but after you finish stretching, it will produce a harvest. I want a HARVEST, how about you? STRETCHING is the only way to get it. Often time we get put to the test by God, a test of our faith to stretch us; whether it’s a financial stretch, a job stretch, or a relationship stretch. Growing pains don’t feel good, but they work for our good. So, let’s start reevaluating our painful positions and situations, as they may be working together for our good, just like God’s word says.
Apply:
When you’re going through something, open up your mind, build your faith. recognize that this is a moment for growth, a moment for BETTER. know that God has a plan for us and its better than any plan we may have for ourselves.
