Scripture: Luke 5:4 NIV
When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.”
Testify:
I have been dealing with coming out of my norm and this has been a struggle for me. In recent events God has instructed me to push past me and go a bit deeper. It was hard work for me to finally get to the place of accepting that I needed to expand and deepen my connection with Him. It required me to really push past my thoughts and where I was most comfortable. I was comfortable with just doing “enough”! Just enough to not drown, just enough to weather the storm, just enough to keep my head above water! Jesus then began to show me how I needed to launch into the deep! I asked, how when I’m tired from treading water? God knew my thoughts and reminded me what it means to tread water; I was stuck going nowhere and in order for me to get where he wants me to go, I must trust that He’s my life preserver and take a dive.
Edify:
I know that it can be scary for some when exploring new territory and it is moving you out of your comfort zone. We must believe that God knows the plans that He have for our lives. There are so many decrees in the God’s word that reminds us that faith is our propeller to deepen our relationship with our father. Here you will find reassurance and answers. He challenged Peter and John to go beyond what they knew (as experienced fisherman) and experienced. He had them go back to a place where they previously were, not able to catch any fish, to obtaining an abundance. This was a testament to who Jesus was and to His word that He had spoken to them. He would create a sea of abundance if we just cast our net of faith! Let’s go fishing!!!
Apply:
This requires us to drop our reservations and “I did this already” mentality. It is going to take us to try new bait. We have to discern when to use what worked in the past or when to try something new. So, if you are asking but not believing, add hope to the equation. If you have hope but is facing discouragement reach out to a sister/brother in Christ. Let’s change the bait and get ready to catch some fish (blessings)!
