Scripture: 2 Kings 17:36 NIV
But the Lord, who brought you up out of Egypt with mighty power and outstretched arm, is the one you must worship. To him you shall bow down and to him offer sacrifices.
Testify:
I was the WORST with asking anyone for help. Even when I really needed it. My standard reply was “No, I got it”. And part of the reason was I did not want anyone to hold it over me or expect me to “praise” the fact they did something for me. Sadly, it was no different when God offered his hand to help. When I think about the amount of times God had stretched his hand to me and I left him hanging, I cringe. Seriously, I was so used to doing it my way and figuring it out on my own that I didn’t even recognize what my savior was offering. I had to get sick and tired of failing on my own to finally cry out and say Lord I need you! What God did/does for me, I could never do, and I give him ALL the praise for saving me like only he can.
Edify:
This scripture tells us to serve God and only God. For it was God that stretched out his arm to save the Israelites and deliver them out of Egypt. It was Gods provision and guidance that led them out of captivity. Therefore, God commands the Israelites to remember who saved them and worship only him. God makes his commands clear to the Israelites and tells them they are to have no idols or Gods before him; they are not to bow or offer sacrifices to no other God. Simply put, God is saying I saved you when no one else could, I deserve all your praise.
Apply:
In your quiet time, think about the amount of times God stretched out his hand in your life. Give him praise.
