Scripture: Psalms 19:7
The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.
Testify:
I believe God's rules were not created to make us sad; instead, they're there to make us live a happier life! To feel this joy, we need to trust what God tells us in the Bible. Right now, I'm learning to trust God in a new way. It's like I'm taking my hands off the steering wheel and letting God take care of my worries. As I learn these new rules, it's making me feel refreshed and alive inside. I always try to fix things for my family. I want to solve their problems and make everything better. Sometimes, I get so caught up in fixing things that I feel like I'm the one with the problem! I keep going until I see the results I think are needed, depending on myself and what I can do to make the problem or issue better for everyone. But is this what God wants? Is it a testimony? Is it wise? Am I following God's perfect rules, or am I just following my feelings? Is this really making me feel better, or am I just pretending to be helpful when I'm not? Am I painting a picture that is not a true testimony of the Lord making the simple wise? Or am I playing God and bringing my own set of rules and leaving out the statutes of his word?
Edify:
Here we have another amazing passage of scripture written by David. This scripture is God’s testimony, and his historical records, leading us to maturity as we learn about God and his ways with his people. The law of the Lord is perfect, implying the completeness and reliability of the word of God. It’s not a set of rules, it’s a statute, permanent and abiding, a guide to our purpose in life. Reviving the soul tells us that as we follow and listen to these rules and follow God’s statutes, it will lead us into maturity, then the reviving of our soul springs forth, causing an evolution of change in not only our lives but to the lives of others we are assigned to. It makes the simple wise, it enlightens our judgment, making us little in our own eyes and willing to be taught.
Apply:
So today, consider this question: Does God knows what’s best for me and my family? If the answer is yes, his law will be refreshing to the soul. Giving joy to our hearts.
