Scripture: Acts 3:19-20 (NIV)
“Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, and that he may send the Messiah, who has been appointed for you—even Jesus.”
Testimony:
I once endured a sinus infection so severe that it landed me in the hospital for two weeks. My body was weak, my mouth dry, and my spirit depleted. The doctors were baffled, no test could explain why I was reacting so intensely. Even worship music, which usually brought me peace, felt unbearable. I remember crying in my hospital bed, pleading with the Lord: “Restore me, renew me, heal me. Help me turn from the things that led me here. No medicine could ease the pain. I needed Jesus not just to heal my body, but to revive my soul.
Edify:
As I later read Acts 3:19-20, the song “O Come to the Altar” rose up in my spirit. The opening line asks, “Are you hurting and broken within?” That question met me exactly where I was. This passage in Acts is a divine invitation to revival, it calls us to repent, to turn from sin, and receive times of refreshing from the Lord. Just like the song says, “Jesus is calling.” He is calling us to come broken, tired, and burdened. Come and lay everything down at His feet. When we turn to Him, He doesn’t just forgive; He refreshes, restores, and revives. Revival isn’t hype, it’s healing. It’s the breath of God entering the dry places of our lives.
Apply:
Take a moment today to listen to “O Come to the Altar.” Don’t just hear the words let them speak to your heart. Then, journal what God is showing you:
What do you need to turn away from?
Where do you need refreshing?
How is Jesus calling you closer?
