Scripture: Luke 15:24 NIV
“For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So, they began to celebrate.”
Testify:
Sometimes it can be so easy to back slide to things or people that God has delivered me from. When I find myself slipping up, I always repent and ask God to help me fight those urges of temptation when they cross my path in the future. I can admit that I give myself a hard time when things like this happen. I even find myself being harsh, not to others but myself. I am so glad that God does not treat me the same way that I treat myself. He instead provides me with Grace.
Edify:
In Luke 15, it puts emphasis on how Heaven rejoices for the one person who repents than 99 lost souls. It is the same with the scripture in Luke 15:24. The Prodigal son sinned against his father and was reckless with the fortunes he was given, when he realized how he had forsaken Heaven and his father, he returned home to ask for his father’s forgiveness. Before he could even apologize to his father for what he had done, his father greeted him with compassion because he knew that he had found his way back home. In that moment he rejoiced and threw a celebration for his son who had found his way. The father was so happy, and he exclaimed that my son which was dead is now alive. He was lost, but now he is found. Give my son a robe and a ring. The Prodigal Son had another brother who was not so happy about his return. He asked his father, why are you throwing him a party. I’ve been here the entire time, and you never threw me a party. The father relayed that his son has come back home.
