Scripture: 2 Timothy 4:3-5 MSG

“You’re going to find that there will be times when people will have no stomach for solid teaching but will fill up on spiritual junk food—catchy opinions that tickle their fancy. They’ll turn their backs on truth and chase mirages. But you—keep your eye on what you’re doing; accept the hard times along with the good; keep the Message alive; do a thorough job as God’s servant.”

Testify:

Walking with God as a young adult Christian is no easy task. It’s a constant tug of war of flesh and spirit. The weight of societal pressure and its ever changing “what’s trending” beliefs will keep you on your toes and in your bibles for truth. Social media for example providing Lost souls with a “quick fix” by nourishing you with someone else’s belief and understanding (junk food). Whereas most of us need some truthful teachings and guidance (that good ole soul food). Something that’ll stick with you awhile and nourish you back to full. Junk food while sweet and satisfying is only a temporary fix. It’s not nourishing or won’t hold you over long, unlike a good hearty soul food meal that’ll keep you sustained longer and have you craving more.

Edify:

God knew all along that there would be tricks and deceit in our walk of faith, but I also believe he wanted it that way, to allow us to use discernment and to make sure we are connected to the one and only true source his word, and to spread the gospel along the way.   The scripture says that we should not think it strange when the world would prefer junk food over hearty soul food.   They will choose to hold fast to a lie knowing it not the truth.    But for us, who are these people?  The ones that believe in the one and only true God, please keep your eyes on the truth in the word of God.  So, who’s tired of junk food.   Who’s tired of the side effects of eating wrong?   Let’s change out diet so we can feed our souls.

Apply:

Wherever we may be in our journeys it’s important to meditate on the word of the Lord and check in with our source from time to time to make sure we aren’t being misled. Though the endless conquest of seeking understanding and purpose of oneself is beautiful, the question is what are you being fed?
