God Gave Me This
Scripture: 1 Peter 4:10 (NLT)
God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.
Testify:
I was on a morning devotional call about a week or so ago, and the hostess was talking about how God puts some of us through tougher times than others and sometimes for longer periods. The conclusion was basically, because we are built for such times. I’m really not! At least, I don’t always feel like I am. That very same day, I was tested, hard! Me and my God have some real conversations. I said to him, “you gave me the gift, I am at a point where I want to share it, now why all the extra hurdles”?
Edify:
Suffering or going through is almost inevitable for a believer. Christ suffered, so why do we think that we are not supposed to? This chapter describes it as “fiery trials”. 1 Peter 4:10 reminds us that when God tags us with gifts and grace, it’s our turn to step up and serve others faithfully. A little further down in verse 19 it says, “So if you are suffering in a manner that pleases God, keep on doing what is right, and trust your life to the God who created you, for he will never fail you”. So, while none of us like the suffering that may come along with our assignment and executing our gift(s), we must hang on to our Faith and trust that God will see us through. Some of us need to suffer so that when the “miracle” comes, God will get all the glory. Hang outside those ropes, wait for the right time for your father to tag you in. I sometimes think that God tags me in a little too early. I’m not ready! But I must be obedient and trust that when he tags me, I should move forward in faith.
Apply:
If you think you don’t have talent or don’t have anything to contribute to the conversation or cause, you are wrong! What is it that you do naturally all the time without even having to think about it? What do your friends and family members call on you every time to do, cook, sing, talk about or make. What gift has God given you that you have been sitting on? Tap in! He gave it to you, so now it’s time for you to share the good things and tag the next person.
