Here Am I. Send Me
Scripture: Isaiah 6:8 KJV
Then I heard the Lord asking, “Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?” I said, “Here I am. Send me.”
Testify:
When I reflect on this month’s topic, my mind goes back to a simple childhood game “TAG.” I loved playing it, but I always dreaded being “it.” I didn’t like the responsibility of choosing who would be next. I’d worry “Will they be upset with me? Will they try to get me back later?” In many ways, that same feeling has followed me into my walk with Christ. Even now, I can admit that I still don’t always like being “it.” There are moments when God calls me to do something, big or small, and I feel uncomfortable. I start offering excuses and questioning, Lord, are you sure you want me to do this? Sometimes it’s as simple as praying aloud during “The Throne Room,” and yet I still find myself hesitating. But God, in His patience and love, continues to stretch me and grow me. Each day, I see how His love transforms my heart. The more I pray, the more I read His Word, the more I realize that I can’t keep His goodness to myself. As His Spirit works within me, I’m learning to share more freely about His faithfulness, His grace, and His mercy. And just like in the game of tag, the real joy comes when you pass it on. When you “tag” someone else by showing the love of Jesus through your kindness, your words, and your example.
Edify:
After idolizing King Uzziah and following his death. Isaiah sees a powerful vision of God’s glory in the temple. Overwhelmed by God’s holiness, Isaiah is immediately aware of his own sin and unworthiness. Then one of the angels touches his lips with a burning coal from the altar, symbolizing forgiveness and purification. After being cleansed, Isaiah hears the Gods voice and doesn’t hesitate to say, “Here am I. Send me.” Isaiah didn’t wait for someone else to answer. He said, “I’ll go.” This is what God wants from us too. Maybe he is calling you to encourage someone who is hurting, maybe he’s tagging you to serve in your church, speak up at school, pray for a friend, or share your story. Whatever it is, when God calls, don’t hide or run. Step up and say, “Here am I. Send me.”
Apply:
So today, if God calls you to be “it,” don’t be afraid. Step forward in faith, knowing that He equips those He calls. As you go, tag someone with His love so that they too may come to know the goodness of our Savior.
