Say Words That Carry Weight
Scripture: Ecclesiastes 3:7 (NIV)
A time to tear and a time mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak.
Testify:
There are always a time and place for everything. In life, we go through seasons where wisdom calls us to remain silent; to watch, pray, and wait on God’s timing. Yet there are also moments when silence is no longer the answer, and we must lift our voices to declare what God has placed within us. Speaking up may mean defending truth, encouraging others, sharing our testimony, or proclaiming God’s Word. The key is discernment: knowing when to be still and when to speak with boldness. When we move in God’s timing, our silence carries power, but our words carry weight.
Edify:
Life unfolds in seasons, and each season carries its own wisdom. There comes a time when silence must give way to speaking. God places truth, wisdom, and testimony within us not for us to keep hidden, but to release at the right time. Speaking up doesn’t always mean raising our voice loudly; sometimes it means speaking with courage when it would be easier to stay quiet. Defend truth when falsehood tries to take root. Encourage others when they are weary, offering words that heal and strengthen. Share the gospel boldly, even when it may not be popular. Declare God’s promises over our lives, families, and situations, reminding ourselves and others of His faithfulness. Silence has its season, but there is also a danger in remaining quiet when God has called us to speak. To stay silent in those moments can mean missed opportunities to shine His light, to bring comfort, or to stand for righteousness.
