Speak Up In Love
Scripture: 2 Timothy 1:7 NIV
For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love, and self-discipline.
Testimony:
I remember a time when fear tried to silence me. I had opportunities to speak up for what was right, to share my faith, and even to step into new doors God was opening, but fear made me hesitate. Then I remembered that the Lord reminded me that fear has no place in me, and I choose courage and confidence.
Edify:
This verse directly challenges fear, reminding believers that fear is not from God. Instead, He equips us with power, love, and self-control, qualities that help us to speak up boldly when the time arises. When it comes to speaking up, this verse serves as a potent reminder that our ability to share truth, stand for what is right, or express our faith doesn't rely on our own strength but on what God has already placed within us. Fear tries to silence and paralyze, but God’s Spirit fuels us with the courage to speak up with words of love, truth, and clarity, even in difficult moments. Speaking up becomes an act of faith, trusting that God has empowered us, not for timidity, but for influence and impact. So, when you're hesitant to speak up, remember that His Spirit equips you with power to overcome fear, love to express truth with humility, and a sound mind to share in wisdom.
Apply:
I want to share some practical steps to help you speak up. Pray first before speaking, ask God for guidance on what to say and how to say it. Step out in confidence, remembering that you speak up with the authority God gave you, not because you’re perfect, but because His Spirit is in you. Exercise wisdom when you begin speaking up, balance courage, and ensure your words build up rather than tear down. Lastly, start small, even if fear feels overwhelming, practice speaking up in smaller settings (friends, family, community) to cultivate boldness. By applying these principles, you can live a life that glorifies God and courageously speaks up for truth, faith, and love, knowing that his spirit is working through you.
