Why Not Speak Love
Scripture: Ephesians 4:15 (NIV)
"Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every
respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.”
Testify:
I have experienced firsthand how speaking the truth in love can transform relationships. There have been moments when I had to confront friends about their choices, and by approaching those conversations with love and compassion, we ended up growing closer and understanding each other better. It’s amazing how honesty, when wrapped in love, can lead to deeper connections and spiritual growth.
Edify:
When I think about the impact of communicating truthfully and lovingly, I realize it not only benefits my relationships but also strengthens our community. I’ve seen how when we encourage one another to be honest about our struggles, it creates a supportive environment where everyone feels valued and heard. This verse reminds me that maturity in faith comes
from sharing our truths and growing together as a body of believers, as we follow the head which is Jesus. This scripture also provides us with a choice. It starts with Instead, which indicates we have an ability to speak hate, curses, defeat and many other things. Why not choose love? Why not grow and respect? Why not mature like Christ.
Apply:
To put this into practice, I plan to be more intentional about how I communicate with others. This means not shying away from difficult conversations but making sure I approach them with kindness and empathy. Whether it’s in discussions with friends, family, or colleagues, I want to ensure that I'm not just speaking the truth but doing so in a way that uplifts and encourages them. I’ll also remind myself to listen actively, as sometimes who loves, which means understanding where others are coming from before sharing my own perspective.
