Scripture: Isaiah 54:2 NIV
“Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes.”
Testify:
This scripture and topic of stretching resonates with me so deeply in this season of my life. If I can be transparent, I’ve been in this season where at first, I felt defeated, low and depressed but I made the decision to be intentional and not let these things control me. I’m spending more time in my Bible and in position, on my hands and knees both before the start of my day and before I get in bed and wow! Things have been shifting for me. Although my situation hasn’t changed just yet (because I believe God will shift it) my tolerance and faith has increased. My overthinking has improved, depressive moods and thoughts are almost nonexistent, and I have a such an unexplainable joy and crazy amount of faith.
Edify:
In this scripture God is not just speaking of stretching your actual tents doors and window curtains but he’s speaking metaphorically. The tent representing our hearts and curtains representing our minds. I think God was reminding us that tough times aren’t to defeat us but to enlarge our hearts, stretch our minds and strengthen our faith. How many of us want him to enlarge our territory. The medical doctor would have a problem with an enlarged heart, but out heavenly father sees the promises that come with the same heart. Let’s pray, Enlarge, Stretch, Lengthen and Strengthen Me Lord.
Apply:
This scripture is a great example of new levels, new devils. And in order to get closer to God, we must first be stretched into position. It won’t be an easy transition and everyday won’t be sunshine and rainbows but leaning towards God will stretch our minds, hearts and our faith. Will you make an effort to stretch towards God with me?
