Speak Boldly
Scripture: Proverbs 28:1 (NIV)
The wicked flee though no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.”
Testify:
Our theme for this month is about speaking up, but speaking up takes courage and boldness. There are times where I struggle with keeping quiet when I know I should speak. Being the empathetic person I am, I often put myself into others’ shoes and overanalyze how what I say may emotionally impact them. I find this to be a blessing and a curse, because although it’s a great skill when needed, it also holds me back from saying things that should be said, simply because I don’t want to unintentionally hurt anyone’s feelings. Courage means you speak anyway, knowing God is with you. Going forward, every time I’m faced with a situation where my voice is needed, I’ll remind myself of Proverbs 28:1. That promise gives me strength to testify, to stand firm, and to speak up for what is right—no matter the cost.
Edify:
Proverbs 28:1 tells us that righteousness produces that same kind of boldness within us. When we walk in integrity and align ourselves with God’s truth, we don’t have to run from fear, shame, or guilt. Our confidence isn’t in ourselves—it’s in the Lord, who covers us with His righteousness. The wicked, by contrast, live with unrest and unease; even without someone chasing them, guilt and fear cause them to look over their shoulders. But the righteous can stand firm, walk forward, and speak up with courage, because they know God goes before them.
Apply:
Two questions we should ask ourselves are: In what aspects of our lives do we need to stop running in fear and start standing in boldness? How can walking in God's righteousness change the way we speak and make decisions?
A prayer: Lord, thank You for covering me with Your righteousness through Christ. Help me to walk boldly, not shrinking back in fear, but moving forward with courage. Give me the strength to speak truth in love and to live with the confidence of one who knows they belong to You. Amen.
