Let’s Talk About It
Scripture Proverbs 12:18
“The words of the reckless pierce like swords, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.”
Testify:
I was known for speaking my mind and intentionally sharpening my words. I knew it was a skill of mine, one I’d refine to ensure it accomplished exactly what I intended. This became my tool—my defense and offense—to keep people from hurting me. What I didn’t realize was that, while speaking with this viperous tongue to others, I was blocking my own deliverance and blessings. I was cursing myself every time I allowed these words to leave my mouth. I spoke against my blessings; I spoke negativity into my life; I spoke myself right into bondage.
Edify:
We do not realize the number of things that have been spoken into existence, or the power that comes along with simply opening our mouths. We can cause plans to alter, which means things can go one way or another just by speaking—life and death. We can say a word to hurt someone and break connections that can never be repaired, just by words. Why not try to use our words to do something different? We can use the word of God to bring healing instead, like the scripture says. How amazing is it to know that when we call on the name of Jesus: deliverance, healing, provisions, and protection are made! We can praise the name of Jesus, and joy can fill our hearts. We can begin to speak hope, which brings purification.
Apply:
This can be easy for some, and harder for others, based on where you are in your faith journey. This would require at least that mustard seed faith to begin to even speak on God’s goodness and His mercies that are renewed every morning! Speak what God’s word says. Speak those things that are not, as though they were. Remember, I stated once before, everything does not require a response or commentary. If you are unable to say words that will bring peace, clarity, hope, or encouragement to a situation, then zip it. However, where there is a praise, worship, a word, a song, and of course prayer, there is life, hope, deliverance, relationship, trust, and healing.
Let’s talk about it!
