Let The Words of My Mouth Be Acceptable

Scripture: Psalms 19:14 (TPT)

So may the words of my mouth, my mediation-thoughts, and every movement of my heart be always pleasing, acceptable before your eyes, Yahweh, my only Redeemer, my Protector.

Testify:

I admit that I still struggle when God instructs me to Speak Up. I am (sort of) comfortable making declarations and telling my story to my close circle, but when it comes time to spread the word in other situations, I get nervous. I feel (sometimes) that no one wants to hear what I have to say, or that what I have to say won’t help anyone. I am also very aware that when I Speak Up, I must be careful of how and when I speak. For that, I continue to seek guidance.

Edify:

Psalms 19:14 is one of the most familiar verses in the Bible. If I am being honest, it was not until recently that I realized that it was a verse in the Bible. As a young church girl, I just knew it was a sign to DISMISS! With uplifted hands we would recite after the Pastor, “let the words of my mouth, meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, oh lord, my strength, and my redeemer, Amen. When God gives us a word and/or testimony, we should absolutely Speak Up and share what he has done for us. We want to be like David in this prayer asking that his speech be pure, truthful, and uplifting. That is one of the ways to keep the kingdom growing. We want to be sure that when we Speak Up, our meditations (thoughts) are pleasing to God so that our words will be acceptable to Him as well. Are we checking in with the father to ensure that our hearts are pure and that every move we make is pleasing to him? When we present ourselves, bring forth a word, make a declaration, and offer words of encouragement, do we do it in a way that is acceptable in his eyes?

Apply:

Here is a little prayer to help in times when the Lord is telling you to Speak Up, but you are not quite sure of your approach:

Lord, let my words and my thoughts honor you. Be my strength and guide today. Amen.
